In Nepal, prejudice and discriminatory attitudes towards key populations hinder access to health services, especially those seeking STI and antiretroviral treatment, or need other drug services than rehabilitation. People who use drugs face punitive legal environments and human rights abuses, are socially marginalised and experience discriminatory attitudes when they try to access medical care, find employment or simply get by. Women who use drugs are a hidden population, often victims of domestic abuse and police violence. Harm reduction services have been introduced almost two decades ago, but they are still funded from international sources and the whole sector is marked by the instability of funding, making achievements look rather frail.
