International Network of People Who use Drugs - Bridging the Gaps

Within the Alliance partnership, INPUD brings in the unique perspective people who use drugs in the design, planning and implementation of the BTG programme. INPUD is part of the Harm reduction project, together with AFEW and Mainline. At country and regional level we contribute to the end goal of the project by supporting providing capacity six national level drug user networks and a regional level drug user network to participate in mechanisms for civil society, to advocate for right-based services and to input into service planning and evaluation in their respective contexts. The INPUD project is implemented in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Indonesia, Nepal, Georgia and in the Eastern European and Central Asian region. We provide direct capacity building and support through several activities: - Community development - Advocacy for right-based and gender sensitive HIV prevention, treatment and care services for people who use drugs - Financial assistance aimed to help our partners to implement the abovementioned activities At global level, we formulate our positions based on community consultations and we use them to inform our advocacy in international spaces. INPUD demands that the community perspective is taken into account in designing interventions aimed to end the epidemic among people who use drugs. We build partnerships aimed to strengthen the role of people who use drugs in processes and mechanisms which influence access to resources, services and uphold human rights.
