Since 2014, Aktis has delivered workshops which support the UK and other international partners in a programme which aims to aid Lebanese communities in coping with large influxes of refugees. Using innovative research and data analysis tools, Aktis measured the impact of social service delivery projects on social cohesion and political stability, ensuring that international investment creates the greatest stabilization effect through conflict sensitive delivery. Aktis’ research was an in depth analysis of communities stressed by large and sudden population increases. Aktis combined qualitative and quantitative research to measure social tension and perceptions of state legitimacy. The quality of the research can be attributed to Aktis use of SenseMaker, a tool designed to go beyond traditional, rigid survey methodologies, and gather a deeper understanding of the attitudes and concerns of affected communities in highly complex environments.
