This is a short study on the links between NDCs (and broader climate policy) and issues of public finance, notably national budgets, and tax and expenditure policies – focusing on 10 countries in South and South-East Asia. Given that domestic budgets of countries could play a significant role in furthering climate action, the study will add to the evidence around how these could be best synergized with direct climate finance commitments to achieve stronger climate benefits. Following a desk review, the study will gather key stakeholder perspectives to substantiate the identified synergies, leading to country-specific analyses and a final virtual dissemination event.
