The programme's initial aim was to strengthen the capacity and responsibility of media actors in Kyrgyzstan to operate as drivers of democracy and to minimise potential conflicts in the run up to the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 2020. The programme has now adapted to focus on establishing and maintaining standards for political dialogue and preventing hate speech.
