The Amref Health Africa CoE on ending FGC was created in 2018 with the aim of providing strategic leadership on, and the coordination of, all work on this issue. Its 3-pillared structure was created curing the first CoE conference in Nairobi in 2018. This funding is to support a second conference in 2019 to discuss the way forward for the CoE, offering a unique opportunity to develop regional common knowledge of programmatic evidence and approaches to ending FGC by inviting programme managers from all Amref Health Africa offices across Sub-Saharan Africa, in conversation with governmental figures. The aim of this conference is to unite, inspire, strategize and plan for achieving Amref’s vision to end FGC by 2030. The total budget is 1,499,224EUR, with People's postcode Lottery funding £430,000 of this.
