  • autorenew Implementation (Status)

This project is to increase the numbers of mid-level health workers and community health workers in target 20% reinvestment countries through the scale up of pre-service and in-service training and through empowerment of communities. This is to improve the health of people living in the world’s poorest countries by ensuring access to health workers at the community level in Angola, Burundi, Ethipoia, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is committed to reinvest 20% of profits made in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) back into projects that strengthen the healthcare infrastructure in those countries, partnering with three leading NGOs to deliver the reinvestments: Amref Health Africa in East and Southern Africa, CARE International UK in Asia Pacific and Save the Children in West Africa. The shared objective of the investments will be to improve health outcomes by supporting frontline health workers who operate in these countries.
