ODI launched the Resilient and Sustainable Islands Initiative (RESI) a couple years ago and is now ready to embark upon the third phase of the project. This will expand on the current work of RESI in four pillars: a flagship report on the State of SIDS, hosting the second SIDS Future Forum, providing technical support and training to AOSIS, and continuing innovative communication methods (regular podcast and series of documentaries). This new grant from FCDO will support all of these and the core team of the RESI directors. RESI Phase 1 produced an analysis on financial sustainability in SIDS, while launching the initiative. The work ramped up in Phase 2, when the initiative took on a much broader scope of work arranged around five outcomes (Building resilient economies, building safe and prosperous economies, building a secure future, ensuring environmental and planetary integrity, and enhancing international support to the SIDS4 agenda) alongside communications products such as a podcast series and several blogs. Phase 3 will continue our successful work on the podcast and "Climate Blueprint" documentary (funded by another entity in 2022), and will replicate the SIDS Future Forum (funded in Phase 2), as well as embarking on new work - support to AOSIS and the flagship report. Given our track record with these previous grants, we already have a wide network of RESI affiliates (experts based in SIDS), and a strong directorate of seven co-directors based in different institutions globally. These and internal staff who have been pivotal in the first phases will ensure we can deliver this new phase. We will primarily work with SIDS in the Caribbean and Pacific. While FCDO is funding the work, the audience will be policy makers in SIDS and global audeinces more widely, to increase awareness of the special circumstances of SIDS . We will also endeavour to work across programme, as we have in previous phases.
