Uganda is at high risk from a variety of natural (and man-made) disasters which have the potential to derail progress on poverty reduction. This programme will work with local communities and governments to reduce vulnerability to disasters in ten communities in eastern Uganda which are at high risk of flooding, and increase national capacity to respond to future disasters. Key activities: • Reduce vulnerability and increase resilience to flooding in 10 high risk communities. • Strengthen URCS DM capacity to respond efficiently and effectively to disasters. • Improve effectiveness of URCS engagement in national policy development and co-ordination to enhance humanitarian efforts.;
