The overall objective is to provide Zambians in the Copperbelt province with equity of access to cost effective quality eye care and social inclusion services as close to the family as possible by the year 2011 The purpose of the project is to provide eye health promotion, preventive, treatment, surgical, education and rehabilitation services so as to reduce the prevalence of avoidable blindness and improve the quality of life for the visually impaired and irreversibly blind persons on the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. The Specific objectives are: ? Carry out research on eye care, CBR and Inclusive Education ? Support Human Resources Development ? Provide Equipment and upgrade infrastructure for delivery of eye care, CBR and IE ? Provide eye disease control, CBR and IE Services ? Strengthen capacities for programme coordination and management Specific activities: ? Conduct Research ? Human Resource Development – Eye Care, CBR & IE ? Equipment and Infrastructure Development ? Service Delivery – Eye Care, CBR & IE ? Programme Coordination and Management
