Objectives: 1. To clear the estimated backlog of 1490 persons blinded by cataract by 2009 and deal with new incidences, estimated at 20% of current cataract volume annually. 2. Increase the proportion of surgeries resulting in good outcome from 58% to 85% by 2012. 3. To improve low vision and refractive error services by establishing an optical and low vision unit in Kericho district Hospital by 2009. 4. To strengthen the capacity of Kericho District and Litein Hospitals to offer childhood blindness services to children over 5 years and enhance referrals for specialized treatment by 2009 Promote the integration and strengthening of primary eye care
