Gulbarga Dist. Education Programme

This is the district based inclusive education programme initiated at Gulbarga District. The district houses 5% of the state’s population and is poorly equipped in relation to education of Visually Impaired (VI) children. The aim of the programme is to integrate the 225 VI children in that area into inclusive education set up, provide the necessary support services such as learning Braille, Taylor frame, abacus, daily living skills and orientation and mobility and facilitate the regular teachers with classroom management of the VI children. The programme simultaneously focuses on building a strong linkage with the Govt. education systems, to ensure that Govt. education system is primarily responsible for the inclusive education needs of the VI children.
