Muhimbili Childhood Blindness Prevention Initiative

The project aims at contributing to the vision 2020 goal on reducing childhood blindness from 0.75/1000 to 0.4/1000 by 2020. This will be done through provision of high quality paediatric eye care services to a population of 10 million people. Some of the project objectives are as follows; 1. To establish Child Eye Health Tertiary Facility at MUHAS/MNH by 2009 2. To establish paediatric ophthalmic referral, outreach and follow up systems in Mkuranga by 2012 3. To establish an information management system to support project management and learning 4. To strengthen Management and Coordination at MUHAS/MNH eye department.
