The Post Health for Peace Initiative (PHFPI) project is located in the three West African countries of Senegal, The Gambia and Guinea Bissau. It was set up to facilitate the implementation of good quality eye care services and also promote eye health. The main goal of the project is to contribute to the improvement of living standards and reduce poverty through a reduction of the blindness prevalence rate by 50% over 5 years in Senegal, The Gambia and Guinea Bissau. The specific objective is to establish comprehensive good quality eye care services that are accessible and affordable to the vast majority of the population of the 3 countries by the end of 5 years. The project implementation is around three major components linked to capacity building through training, infrastructure building for establishment of comprehensive eye care for service delivery, and partnership building for adequate coordination
