Ready to Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) are energy-dense fortified pastes that combat malnutrition, and that can be deployed in an outpatient setting. Valid and its partner Ajinomoto have created an alternative product that uses amino acids, soy, maize and sorghum. The partners aspire to source ingredients in the same markets where RUTFs are deployed, and to manufacture locally.
