Signing Safe Futures Pakistan is a pilot project, working to challenge the discrimination experienced by D/deaf children and young people in Gujrat, Pakistan. The project will develop and test an integrated screening programme and associated pathway of care and ensure the early detection of Deafness and onward referral to secondary & tertiary hearing care, communication, parenting and safeguarding support. This aims to ensure that all children and young people with hearing loss and D/deafness identified through screening are given access to vital communication either through sign language or with the help of hearing aids where appropriate. In turn, access to communication will improve access to education, work, life-chances, and reduce susceptibility to abuse and discrimination.
