IATI Identifier:
INSO Iraq provides dedicated and bespoke safety and security services to NGOs programming in Iraq, ultimately seeking to enhance situational and contextual awareness of the work, safety, security, and political environment, as well as security and crisis management practices. INSO’s presence helps to pre-empt and mitigate crises amongst its beneficiaries, thereby helping to sustain the delivery of aid. INSO Iraq has four offices in Erbil, Baghdad, Sulaymaniya, and Dohuk, and is in the process of setting up a fifth office in Ramadi. Erbil and Baghdad are the main offices. Furthermore, INSO staff frequently spend time in Kirkuk, Tikrit, and Kalar. INSO’s services play an important role in establishing a baseline of credible information, but their most important role is to facilitate direct interaction between INSO staff and its beneficiaries in a way that builds trust in INSO and makes its role central to the community.
