Using deforestation-free commodity supply chains to support national initiatives to combat forest loss

This project will develop practical engagement principles to help agricultural commodity supply chain companies align with national and sub-national policy processes, so that they can address deforestation in production landscapes more effectively. The project will focus on palm oil, rubber, cocoa and timber/fibre supply chains in Indonesia, Ghana, Liberia and Cameroon. Case studies in pilot production landscapes will test the engagement principles and develop national guidance for their implementation. To support the effective use of the principles the project will also develop awareness and capacity to use the engagement principles. There will be a specific focus on engaging Chinese companies.
