ELRHA Research to support Covid-19 research in humanitarian settings (Jordan, Zimbabwe)

Project Aim: The proposed research will work across four different country settings (ACF in Zimbabwe and Jordan, Oxfam in Burkina Faso and Lebanon), aiming to generate robust evidence on how the use of the Community Perception Tracker (CPT) affects programme teams’ understanding of varied communities’ capacity, behaviours and coping mechanisms to reduce infection risks - and how this evolves over time. It will further investigate how this translates into the iterative implementation of public health programmes in COVID-19 outbreak and the perceived acceptability of these programmes by the crisis-affected population. The findings will be used to develop a robust monitoring and evaluation framework for the use of the CPT both during the COVID-19 outbreak and for any future disease outbreaks. Outputs: Output 1: Implementation of the CPT in response programme - Training of the team and partners in country and launch of the data collection - On-going data collection, analysis and weekly reports available Output 2: Set up of research plan and processes Ethical approval in country Recruitment and training of the research team Setting up questionnaires/surveys using SCTO/Kobo Initial interviews conducted with CPT teams Hygiene monitors trained on data collection Output 3: Data collection and analysis Data collection commences submission of logbook from staff phone or face to face survey with affected communities midterm and final interviews with CTP teams organizing feedback session with LSHTM with country teams translation support on data summaries Output 4: Progress review on outcomes of changes in community perceptions, on monitoring programmatic changes and hygiene behaviours monitoring Regular attendance on coordination calls to provide verbal updates Participation in the 3 months, 6 months and final programme review Feedback and dissemination of research progress and immediate findings Beneficiary Numbers: 200 direct beneficiaries and their families
