Emergency and Preparedness Response to the Spread of the Ebola Virus Epidemic #11 in DRC

Project Aim: Action Against Hunger (AAH) plans to intervene to mitigate the spread of EVD for vulnerable populations in Bikoro and Boende health zones by strengthening their response and preparedness capacities in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices.  Firstly, in Bikoro, it aims at preventing further spread of EVD among AAH beneficiaries and health personnel in 15 health facilities currently supported by AAH Emergency Nutrition Response Team (Emergency Nutrition Program for Congo - PUNC). Then it would increase the coverage to the whole health zone, adding 6 Health Areas to the current intervention, for both Nutrition and IPC activities. Thirdly, it will participate to prepare Boende health area to cope with a possible occurrence of EVD cases.   Outputs: R1. 21 health areas in Bikoro  strengthen their IPC capacities and EVD screening  R2.  Boende health zone is better prepared for an IPC response in case of an EVD outbreak including the BCZ management team and personnel of 35 health facilities  R3. Severe Acute Malnutrition prevention and treatment is strengthened in 6 health areas of Bikoro  Beneficiary Numbers: 2,044
