Advocacy Campaign for Young Mothers in Eastern DR Congo

The purpose of this pilot project is to advocate for and raise awareness on the rights of young mothers in the South Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The project aims to improving the living conditions for 72 young mothers at Baraka and Uvira towns, where young mothers live in constant violation of their rights, are kicked out from schools and are subjects to all kinds of neglect in their families. Young mothers are marginalized, live in unsafety environment and due to the ignorance in their rights and reproductive health care, they are at high risk of a circle of abuses and unwanted pregnancies. The pilot project will focus on i) identifying and assessing the root causes of issues affecting young mothers ii) providing solutions through community awareness, dialogue and education iii) promoting the work of civil society organizations and partner organization, build the capacity of young volunteers and individual young mothers for their autonomy.
