Folkemødet is a demonstration of Danish democratic culture at its core. The societal festival reduces the distance between politicians and “the people” by gathering officials, organisations, opinion makers, companies, correspondents, and citizens to debate social concerns and creations. Decision makers and Danes alike walk and talk, side by side in this small island of Bornholm surrounded by the Baltic Sea. This continued conversation between citizens across all sectors, cultivates trust and transparency in our society. This is a true initiative for democratic dialogue - incidentantly, initiated by the person who founded Silba - Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy, former MP Bertel Haarder. Folkemødet is the ideal setting for a network activity between representatives from Silba and OAJNU. The primary purpose is to show and tell the constructive story of Danish democratic culture through the eyes of a young Argentinian woman. The intention is then to gain insights and inspiration for our South American Youth Democracy Summit in 2024. Folkemødet - Across the Atlantic.
