The project is implemented in partnership with a local organisation, GARKUA, and contributes through three mutually supporting intervention areas. First, to connect communities and the local government around climate resilience efforts, a Community-Based Adaptation approach is used to strengthen the capacity of CSOs and the local government to facilitate the development of Community Adaptation Action Plans and support the community in their implementation. Second, the project targets the biodigester sector directly. Working with private sector actors and local entrepreneurs, 40 biodigester models have been assessed to identify their commercial scalability and green jobs potential. Further, beneificiaries are trained to build and operate the biodigesters, and maximise their environmental and social benefits. Third, based on evidence from the project, CSOs are supported to develop and carry out advocacy campaigns aiming to shape national climate policy frameworks to better bridge climate resilience efforts with green jobs and sustainable income generating activities.
