IATI Identifier:
In the areas most affected by the conflict in Iraq, the humanitarian needs are dire as displaced populations return home. With major damage to basic infrastructure, scarce employment opportunities and limited public services, it is vital to create the conditions for a durable and dignified return. Recent returnee households experience a general impoverishment that conducts them to resort to negative and risky coping strategies and mechanisms. Children and adolescents are particularly vulnerable to protection risks, with assessments showing increasing rates of child labour, child marriage and violence directed at children amongst the returnee population. In light of these needs and risks, Tdh implements a programme to strengthen the protection, resilience and prospects of vulnerable children and adolescents among recently returned IDPs.
