PROG_2017-2021_SPRONG: Skills Development: key to Social and PRofessional integration of YOUNG as active members of society

As a Belgian and Salesian NGO, VIA Don Bosco wants to contribute to the realisation of the right to education for underprivileged young people and marginalised communities in both North and South. To this end, we follow a double track: In the South, we support: The integral education for underprivileged boys and girls, through technical and vocational education. The capacity building of the people and the institutional strengthening of the training centres involved in the education of these young people. An essential part of the capacity is the capacity of our partner organisations to advocate the aforementioned right through advocacy and influencing policy. In the North we support: Capacity building of educational institutions, teachers and youth organizations in realizing: Programs and projects of Global Formation for all young people, including underprivileged ones, in Belgium with a view to structural behavioural change. Self-sufficiency for these young people to transform them into Actors of Change. The institutional embedding of Global Formation and Right to Education within Belgian educational and political institutions but also among the general public (opinion forming). How do we see the future? As a Belgian and salesian NGO, we believe in the strength of human development based on a holistic approach to education and training. Education is the cornerstone of sustainable development. We believe it is one of the most important tools to grow out of poverty and to build a democratic, just and sustainable society. It is also an important key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
