COVID19 pandemic and lockdowns that followed have disproportionately hurt marginalized communities due to loss of livelihood and lack of access to food, shelter, health, and other basic needs. This has choked off almost all-economic activities. Leading to the widespread loss of jobs and incomes for informal workers and the poor that in turn causes untold misery for them. Oxfam's COVID-19 responses look different in each country but activities may include a) food and nutrition security covering cooked meal, dry ration and self-help community kitchens, b) water, sanitation and health (WaSH) covering bathing soaps, sanitisers, masks, sanitary napkins, disinfectants, washing powder/detergent soaps etc. for the community, c) essential health supplies for service providers (PPE kits) -full body covers, disposable googles, aprons, N95 masks, surgical gloves in additional to alcohol based hand sanitiser, handwashing liquid soap etc, d) unconditional cash transfer (UCT) as a means to give flexibility to the beneficiaries for meeting other needs over ‘fixed package in-kind support’ and as a means to boost to the local economy, e) training/ orientation of the humanitarian staff, government frontline workers on COVID19 (through digitally available mediums and using context specific methodologies that addresses the concerns of Protection Protocols for COVID19) and f) communications/materials on COVID19 in local languages
