The project aims to make the socially, politically and culturally discriminatory pre and post election context of Pakistan more favourable for women’s political empowerment and their leadership. The project strengthenns networking at the provincial and national level with different political parties as gatekeepers of elections for promoting role of women in politics and governance, as well as employ pre and post election engagement approaches to promote women’s active participation and representation as voters and contestants in political processes. The initiative will also engage with political parties for promoting women’s rights through their manifestoes, in their candidate lists, providing women candidates with appropriate training and support, and allocating campaign funds. Through affirmative engagement with government and political parties, the project will ensure women’s equal participation in decision-making as a cornerstone of democracy.
