Oxfam Australia’s Indigenous Justice Reform program works with Indigenous coalitions that operate at a state and federal level to lobby for law reform to reduce Australia’s very high rates of Indigenous incarceration, which are among the highest rates in the world. These coalitions are also calling for, and in some cases initiating, “justice reinvestment” programs which emphasise preventative support in communities.  The program also supports Indigenous-led groups that are advocating for a smarter approach to justice for Indigenous Australians.
