La Paz Water Efficiency & Early Warning Project, sub-project A (Implementation phase)

The larger La Paz Water Efficiency & Early Warning Project is subdivided into two sub-projects:- Sub-project A; Reduction of Non-revenue water and Early warning system, and- Sub-project B; Rehabilitation and expansion of the Pampahasi water treatment plant.The overall objective of the larger project is to ensure a permanent, sufficient and good quality supply of water by an organization (EPSAS) that is able to fully cope with the increasing demand for water and that supplies the necessary trust for water related private sector development. Sub-Project A includes the following components:1. Water Resources Monitoring and Control (M&C): This part of the project concerns a monitoring and control system that allows for better use of the available water in the catchment areas. Through use of this system, the level of water in the basins, storage reservoirs and the level ofwater treated at each point in time can be optimized. This helps to prevent losses through evaporation and floods and allows for optimal use of the connections between the catchment areas and water treatment plants in case of drought.2. Water Supply Efficiency – NRW reduction (NRW): NRW management investments and operational support to the EPSAS NRW management teams in the Achachicala and Pampahasi command areas.
