ADVOCAFE: Building Capacity for Non-Competitive Collaboration to Adopt Climate Smart and Gender Inclusive Policies in the Coffee Sector

This project will support the process to reach consensus and generate support to urgently required policy measures at sector level, aimed at increasing climate smart and gender inclusive production in the coming decade. Through trainings it will build up capacity among local CSOs to advocate for their interests during the development and implementation of environmental and more inclusive policies by governments at (inter-) national level. It will foster the collaboration with research institutes/initiatives to acquire data and information at farm level, that will provide crucial insights for stakeholders on the impact of policies and programmes designed at (inter-) national level. In close coordination with its partners, this project will support and expand the existing sector platforms in Guatemala, Peru, Colombia. It will establish new sector platforms in Honduras and Nicaragua. Solidaridad will lead the exchange of information and best practices between the different countries. It will use knowledge and innovations of leading countries like Brazil for the benefit of other Latin American countries.
