How to Do Conflict prevention: An important aspect of this focus at the global level is the follow up of the recommendations from the 2015 UN review of peacekeeping operations, the peace architecture, the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and the UN resolutions that followed, notably the so tion, continuation and recurrence of conflict, addressing root causes, assisting parties to conflict to end hostilities, ensuring national reconciliation, and moving towards - for the UN - a groundbreakingly new and expansive understanding, close to the idea of prevention. Sustaining peace is a political process that takes place before, during, and after the outbreak of conflict, and therefore also not the task of a single UN agency, but a system-wide responsibility.
