Summary: South Sudan is one of the most fragile states in the world. The on-going conflict continues to affect the lives of millions of people there and has been marked by brutal violence against civilians and increasing suffering across the country. High numbers of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Akobo and returning refugees in Pibor, together with a lack of services, mean that many people are living below the poverty threshold. This project focuses on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Child Protection in Akobo and Pibor. It is being implemented by Plan South Sudan and runs from January till December 2016. It targets the most marginalised people, IDPs and host communities, namely girls and boys, adolescent women and other community members. The project reinforces existing child protection systems and sets up new Child Protection and WASH systems.
