4.2 Knowledge and learning: products and services

Knowledge products include: • Cases on EA in specific sectors such as hydropower, climate change, extractive industry or on the introduction of SEA; • Tools and building blocks on scoping and review; • Presentations at international conferences and seminars. These products are used by NCEA staff in their programmes, in presentations and training workshops. They also provide information for DGIS / EKN staff on results of NCEA work and added value of environmental assessment. Also, fellow EA practitioners worldwide use them, both for capacity development and as input for research. Some specific cases and publications are targeted at multi-lateral platforms such as the IPCCC to stimulate debate on the use and added value of EA instruments in obtaining their objectives. We also provide the NCEA helpdesk. This helpdesk is coordinated by the knowledge and communication staff and largely carried out by the technical secretaries. It aims to address questions from various target groups, varying from queries on specific sectors, such as EA for hydropower, to more requests for procedural information on, for example, quality assurance in the EA process.
