2.4 Private sector development: capacity development and workshops RVO staff & investors

Complementary to our advice on specific ESIAs for project under the PSD facilities, the NCEA also provides workshops to both RVO staff and project proponents on the how and why of ESIA. The workshops serve to introduce the concept of ESIA to those for whom it is new (including new staff at the RVO - there is regular turn-over), to present good practice in relevant areas (water, public infrastructure), but also to exchange views on how ESIA relates to the facilities themselves. The workshops improve both the applicability and the uptake of the NCEA's ESIA advice. We generally hold workshops twice a year. Each one is tailormade for the target-group and contains examples and cases for the funds in question. In addition, the NCEA functions as a helpdesk for RVO and project proponents. They can approach us for clarification of ESIA procedures, sectoral ESIA guidelines and other related information.
