The overall objective of the PCIA is to assess the relevance of the project with respect to conflict prevention in the selected border regions and identify/analyze possible solutions for the implementing organization and its partners in order to ensure that the poverty alleviation goals are supported by conflict prevention and peace building. The purpose of the PCIA will be to (a) assess the Cross-Border Post-Conflict Infrastructure project along “Do No Harm” approaches and identify and /or analyze the peace building potential of the project (b) empower COMESA and the partners (AUC,KFW, participating member states) to better understand the impact of their work and provide recommendations for any necessary changes that will amplify the positive impact of the initiative while at the same time minimize negative impacts on the peace and conflict environment and (c) provide guidance or recommendations on how the project’s impact on peace building could be reinforced.
