Gujarat Nutrition Programme

The Power of Nutrition, CARE and Action Against Hunger are working with the Government of Gujarat to implement the Gujarat Nutrition Programme, a $13.3 million 5-year investment benefitting both women and young children. The investment concentrates specifically on increasing the capacity of existing systems and programmes as well as building nutrition-related knowledge in Bhavnagar and Sabarkantha, two districts exhibiting particularly high rates of stunting. The programme also leverages additional support from the Unilever Mobile Doctorni communication platform, using a mobile-phone based voice response system to influence health and hygiene behaviours. By focusing on the crucial first 1,000 days, this collaboration between the government and private sector is set to provide benefit to women and children in both the medium and long term.
