In 2010 InterClimate Network (ICN), in partnership with ERMIS Africa, launched a 4 year innovative project, Climate Action Teams, which aims to tackle two of the world’s most pressing challenges: youth unemployment and helping communities to limit and adapt to climate change. School-leavers in groups of 25 are forming in 15 localities across Kenya. After business training and market research, business plans focused on environmental needs in their community will be developed for micro financing. The group will operate from a shared office and demonstration area in each locality. Business mentoring will continue for 3 years leading to viable businesses at the end of that time. Young people will share their knowledge and skills with others, influencing opinion leaders and engaging communities to promote sustainable development and ultimately reduce poverty.;
