Disaster Risk Reduction - British Overseas Territories

British Red Cross overseas branches are in Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Montserrat and Turks and Caicos Islands susceptible to hurricanes, floods, landslides, mudslides, winter storms and volcanic activity and other natural disasters. This programme seeks to build community resilience across the 6 territories they serve and also build their capacity to mitigate and respond to disasters and climate change in the region. Key activities: • Reduce vulnerability to disasters in 25 high-risk communities (5,200 people) across the 6 Overseas Territories. • Increase disaster response effectiveness in the OSBs of the British Red Cross (reaching 13,792 people). • Increase each Overseas Branch disaster management capacity, including 25% increase in active volunteer capacity, to fulfil its defined role as per the national Disaster Management plan.;
