Programme Partnership Agreements (PPAs) are one of DFID’s main support mechanisms to Civil Society Organisations and the British Red Cross. The PPAs are strategic level agreements based around mutually agreed outcomes and individual performance frameworks against which organisations report on an annual basis. Critically, subject to performance, PPAs provide organisations with multi-year funding, enabling them to better plan and deliver programmes, including in more difficult, higher risk environments. PPAs are aimed at organisations with a global reach and leaders in their field who can add value to DFID’s portfolio, support the realisation of its objectives, achieve real results in terms of poverty reduction and provide good value for money. In April 2011, the British Red Cross was awarded a three year CHASE (DFID's Conflict, Humanitarian and Security Department) PPA following a competitive application process and due diligence assessment, which was later extended for an additional two years. It´s worth £8,189,97 in total. This strategic funding aims to help the British Red Cross scale up its support to strengthening the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement’s ability to enable individuals and communities to better prepare for, withstand and recover from crises, emergencies and disasters through strengthening leadership, coordination and technical capacity at global, regional and local levels. ;
