Social Inclusion project through Comprehensive Eye Services approach. It serves the education, rehabilitation and eye health needs of tribal dominated community of the area. 40 visually impaired people have been rehabilitated and 17 children with visual impairment have been enrolled in the mainstream education setup. This is a CBR project implemented on a Comprehensive Eye Services approach. The project has three main components social inclusion of visually impaired people, education of children with visual impairment and addressing the eye health needs of the community. The project has facilitated rehabilitation of 112 VI persons and 20 children have been mainstreamed in to the wider education system. The project also demonstrated a convergence initiative at the district level. Under this initiative three vision centres were established for which support was raised from a Cement company in the district. The equipment for the centres was supported through the project, and government has agreed to support the human resource for the centres. The project also influenced the district administration in ensuring that all four positions of ophthalmologists are occupied, thereby ensuring required human resources at the district level as well as grassroots level. A DPO has been formed at the district level which has started advocating for the rights of disabled people in the area.
