This project focused on addressing primary and secondary level eye health issues in Bikaner, Churu and Nagaur districts of Rajasthan through the base hospital located in Nokha block of Bikaner. Majority of the hospital's patients are walk-in, in addition to those referred from the seven vision centres spread across Bikaner (which are part of the social inclusion programme in the district). It conducts about 4000 cataract surgeries annually of which about 50% are supported by Sightsavers. The hospital has laid plans for sustainability by adopting a cross subsidization approach and hence is attracting paying patients from nearby districts and States.
