VARD started partnership with Sightsavers in 1998 as part of Sightsavers’ global cataract campaign. Since that the partnership between VARD and Sightsavers is going on in different modes and from 2010 CEC project has been started. The purpose of the project is to eliminate the backlog of cataract blindness from Sylhet division by the year of 2012. The project is working for increasing the demand of eye care services, increasing the access of the community people to services on cataract, refractive error and low vision patients and managing the project efficiently. From 2011, this project has been merged with ‘Vision Bangladesh’ project.
