Zambia Disability Platform

To contribute towards achieving a Zambian society in which disabled persons enjoy full participation in National Development with all their fundamental rights and freedoms guaranteed by 2015 1. To create a unified platform for the disability movement to advocate for the domestication of the UNCRPD. 2. To develop a common advocacy agenda for the disability movement 3. To strengthen institutional capacity of Disability and Blind people’s organisations. 4. To develop the advocacy skills of persons with disabilities by 2013 Some key activities • Create a platform for joint advocacy and capacity building for DPOs/BPOs • Lobby for increased funding to the disability sector. • develop appropriate strategy to address inadequacies • strengthen capacity of government funded DPOs in organisational development and programme delivery • Train persons with disabilities in self advocacy skills • Engage donors, private, public and social sectors to include disability issues in their policies and programmes. • Conduct sensitisation activities for parents and guardians on the importance of educating persons with disability
