RE will provide 300 families (1050 indv.) with shelter kits (based on UNHCR's shelter design which includes tarpaulins, poles, nails, and tools) alongside training on shelter construction through local Shelter Committees. This activity will allow families to begin the relocation from overcrowded, makeshift shelters in Kapise to Luwani on the timeline that UNHCR has planned. An expidited move will allow families to resume a safer, more dignified life. Additionally, components from the emergency shelters (e.g. plastic sheets, poles) can be reused when the more immediate phase of the crisis is passed and transitional shelters are constructed. Each temporary shelter will take approximately 1 day to construct, and can last up to 1 year.
