  • autorenew Implementation (Status)

In Uganda, we aim for a desired situation where the private sector is engaged in innovative financing mechanisms and sustainable technologies benefit livelihoods of women, men and youth. WWF will focus on increased access to renewable energy alternatives amongst communities that are over-dependent on biomass resources to meet their energy needs and will reduce pressure on available forests resources. Firstly, CSOs must be strengthened and empowered to engage in coordinated policy advocacy and to represent the interest of their constituency. Secondly, government policies and practices need to enable and ensure civil society participation. Lastly, there is a need for demonstrating and scaling up market transformation initiatives to enable change at scale while at the same time empowering local communities to add value to their forest based production.
