The Youth Leader exchange will support the implementation of a Pilot Project between Danish Red Cross Youth (DRCY) and Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) focusing on building resilient young communities in vulnerable urban settings The Urban Resilience (UR) programme operates in informal settlements in Mukuru, where especially young men face marginalization and the of risk of ending in an unhealthy environment of drugs abuse and crime The youth leader exchange will support the project by strengthening the capacity of core volunteers to take charge of youth development and youth activities in Mukuru The youth leaders will support the young men and youth in general in Mukuru to develop and initiate their own initiatives and activities for youth By engaging the young men and the youth from a very vulnerable urban setting in developing youth initiatives responding to the specific needs of their peers we expect to reach youth who are not usually included in development activities More concretely, the Youth Leaders will support and lead the process of SPRINT workshops for idea-generation and conceptualization They will also conduct trainings for KRCS volunteers in SPRINT, enabling them to organize SPRINT workshops themselves for a long-term sustainability The ideas and developed activities will form the foundation for a future partnership between DRCY and KRCS In addition, a strong focus will be to strengthen the bridge between youth in Mukuru and the KRCS youth branch in Nairobi county
