Empowered young women and men in resilient and inclusive communities
The overall vision of the strategic partnership between the MFA and PlanBørnefonden is to enable positive systemic change for young women and men within the wider framework of the Sustainable Development Goals and in line with our vision and mission as PlanBørnefonden. Based on each partner’s role and mandate, the partnership will serve to ensure the rights and equal opportunities of marginalised young women and men to realise their full potential as competent, skilled and employable agents of change, who actively participate in the strengthening of civil society and sustainable development in their countries. With our focus on youth, especially young women, PlanBørnefonden contributes to the 2017 Danish Development Strategy’s four strategic objectives (Security; Migration; Inclusive, Sustainable Growth; and Freedom). We consider the empowerment, inclusion and equality of marginalised young women and men a precondition for achieving these objectives in the fragile rural and urban contexts in Africa.

Strategic Partnership with DANIDA 2022-2025
The overall objective of our cross-cutting strategic partnership is:
Children, adolescents and young people are safe and influence decision-making in resilient communities that respect their rights and offer equal opportunities for all regardless of gender.
We build on and further the considerable achievements of our old Strategic Partnership with DANIDA (2018-2021), proposing eight country programmes in the same eight countries, Burkina Faso, Mali, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Togo, and Benin and three thematic/global programmes with innovative solutions supporting the ambitions of the country programmes. In Burkina Faso, Mali, and Ethiopia, we add a critically needed comprehensive humanitarian response, while in all eight countries we add green solutions, climate adaptation and disaster preparedness.
